In July 2014, Decree 410/2014, an Amendment to the Waste Act transposed the WEEE Recast Directive and introduced stricter requirements on the Producers collection network.
From January 2011, the WEEE regulatory authorities in Finland, the Centre for Economic Development, Traffic and the Environment for Pirkanmaa, require that for any producer that wishes to pass on the costs of WEEE collection and transport to the business end-user, the producer must have a separate agreement with each customer where the customer agrees to pay for the cost of collection and transport of WEEE.
Producers must inform distributors of their registration in producer register.
Any equipment likely to be contaminated MUST be certified as clean and free from contamination by following the recommended decontamination procedure prior to collection.
