Ultrasound imaging provides noninvasive 3D views into vascular changes in response to cancer therapy

Monitoring tumor response to therapy typically relies on changes in tumor volume. However, various functional and molecular changes, including vascular density, occur before any measurable changes in tumor size are observed. Some imaging modalities such as MRI and PET, have been used to predict response to therapy, but high costs, long imaging times, and radiation risks limit their application.
