Proteomics research on placental tissue has led to the discovery of key biomarkers for various gestational syndromes and pathologies. This application note describes a sample preparation method that includes homogenization of fixed placenta tissue for a quick and effective alternative to standard chemical-based sample preparation methods. This method yields a complete homogenate suitable for downstream total protein quantification and can be extended to further proteomics assays such as ELISA, LC-MS/MS, and Western blot.
