The field of proteomics increasingly requires low sample volumes and the detection of minimal protein concentrations. Low-binding tubes, which help minimize the loss of protein or nucleic acids within a sample, provide researchers a means to avoid as much analyte loss as possible compared to standard tubes. A comparison of standard polypropylene tubes and low-binding tubes found that the latter retained less protein and maintained its low-binding properties during bead milling. The Omni Bead Ruptor Elite bead mill homogenizer was effective in this process, making these low-binding tubes a valuable tool for handling and extracting proteins in small quantities for the bead milling process.
