Biotin, also known as vitamin H or B7, is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin that plays a vital role in various metabolic processes.
AlphaLISA™ Technology is a user-friendly method for detecting molecules in various mediums. It works by using two antibodies: one biotinylated anti-analyte antibody that binds to streptavidin-coated donor beads, and another anti-analyte antibody conjugated to AlphaLISA acceptor beads.
Some cell culture media, such as RPMI, contain high levels of biotin, which can interfere with AlphaLISA by competing for the streptavidin sites on the donor beads.
This application note provides alternatives for working with samples in RPMI medium, which contains high levels of biotin.
